The Last Blockbuster Tells the Story of the Only Remaining Blockbuster

The Last Blockbuster is a new documentary on the last remaining Blockbuster Video in Bend, Oregon.

Coming out December 15, the film features Sandi Harding (the manager of the last standing store) and notable characters like Kevin Smith, Adam Brody, Doug Benson, among many others. They share their personal memories of Blockbuster and speak to the impact that the famous chain has had on their lives. We also get to watch the chain’s rise to success and inevitable downfall due to the advent of home streaming. At it’s peak in 2004, the company had around 9,0000 stores and employed approximately 84,300 people. Today, well… less…

Will you be able to rent The Last Blockbuster DVD at the last Blockbuster store? probably not, but it will be available to rent and buy on all major digital and cable/satellite on demand platforms (iTunes, Amazon, DirecTV, In Demand, etc.)

On a similar note, another bygone brand of the 80s and 90s, Tower Records, has recently made a digital comeback. In its reincarnated form, the iconic music retailer focuses mainly on selling vinyl and cassette in various genres.
